About this conversion

ASS can describe text appearance and placement beyond what this simple SRT export retains. This converter reads dialogue from the Events section, requires Text to be the final event field, and exports cue times and text. It converts explicit inline italic switches and line breaks, but does not preserve the full style system or drawing commands.

How it works, examples & FAQs

How to convert ASS to SRT

  1. Choose your ASS files.
  2. Review the preview and the output options. Select the correct input encoding if needed.
  3. Select Convert, review each result, then download the ready files.

Example

An ASS cue at 0:00:01.25 becomes 00:00:01,250 in SRT. An explicit inline italic switch can become an <i> tag; a position instruction is removed.

Limits and common problems

Output uses UTF-8. Limits are 2 MiB per file and 20 MiB per batch. Advanced styling may not transfer.

A caption needs readable text and valid timestamps. Unsupported formatting may be removed; check the exported captions in the player where you plan to use them.

Frequently asked questions

Will my subtitle appearance stay identical?

No. Styles, drawings, animations and positions are not preserved. A player may also interpret the resulting italic markup differently.

Can the tool read every ASS variation?

No. The dialogue format must include Start and End, with Text as the final field. Unsupported event layouts receive an error.
