About this conversion
Choose PNG when you need an editable image that supports transparency. Converting WebP to PNG does not recover details already removed by earlier compression. PNG output may be larger than the source. The preview shows transparent areas against a checkerboard; that checkerboard is not added to the output.
How it works, examples & FAQs
How to convert WebP to PNG
- Choose your WebP files.
- Review the preview and the output options. Check the format limitations below.
- Select Convert, review each result, then download the ready files.
Example
A transparent logo.webp becomes logo.png with its transparent areas retained. Use WebP to JPG instead when the destination needs JPEG and a solid background is acceptable.
Limits and common problems
The combined image input limit is 20 MiB. Browser format support varies. Format conversion does not copy metadata; compression may retain it. Still images only.
A conservative 32-million-pixel limit also applies after decoding. Compressed size alone does not determine memory use. If a file is unsupported, the tool shows an error for that file.
Frequently asked questions
Will transparent areas remain transparent?
Yes, when the source is decoded successfully, the PNG output keeps its alpha channel.
Can I convert an animated WebP?
This local version is intended for still images and rejects WebP animations it detects. Review unfamiliar files before relying on the result.
