About this conversion

The first CSV row supplies column names. Remaining rows become JSON objects, with cell values kept as strings so identifiers and leading zeros are not changed automatically. Quoted commas, embedded newlines and escaped quotes are parsed as CSV fields. Empty rows are skipped; duplicate headers and inconsistent row lengths produce an error.

How it works, examples & FAQs

How to convert CSV to JSON

  1. Choose your CSV file, or paste its contents.
  2. Review the preview and the output options. Check the format limitations below.
  3. Select Convert, review each result, then download the ready files.

Example

id,code
42,00123
The output includes {"id":"42","code":"00123"}. Keeping the code as text protects the leading zeros; this tool does not infer numeric or boolean types.

Limits and common problems

The tool accepts one data file up to 10 MiB. Review the result before importing it into a spreadsheet or another application.

An invalid record or ambiguous column layout stops the export. Correct the input before trying again; no invalid record is silently discarded.

Frequently asked questions

Why are numbers in quotes?

All CSV values stay as text by design. CSV itself does not carry reliable column types. Convert types deliberately in the application receiving the JSON.

Why are duplicate column names rejected?

Two identical property names would overwrite information in a JSON object. Give each header a unique name before conversion.
